Water companies could be adopting your drains
The ownership of the majority of existing private ‘shared’ drains and sewers are transferring into public ownership on 1st October 2011. For many, this could be considered as good news as future maintenance costs, etc will become the responsibility of the water company and if you are a landlord, the resulting extra costs falling on the water bills will be paid by your tenants!
Water companies will have various rights of access to maintain and restrict building over. Owners can appeal to OFWAT against the transfer within two months of receiving the transfer notice.
If you are already a Johnsons client and we receive a transfer notice on your behalf, we will pass it straight on to you.
